After five years as the President of the Staff Union, and 22 years with the ICTY and the Mechanism, I hang up my hat and pass the reins to our new Staff Union President, Gloria Otieno. I could not have hoped for a more capable and committed successor.
Gloria is not only competent, she is well studied in staff issues, having previously been SU Vice-President, being responsible for running the Union in Arusha. She is also versed in global UN affairs, having participated in Staff / Management meetings at the UN-wide level, as well as staff-federation meetings. Gloria is supported by the Staff Union Committee, and by its vice-presidents, Greg Shankman in The Hague, and Ishumael Zinyengere in Arusha.
Please welcome Gloria when you get the chance, and feel free to reach out to her on any issues you may have. Gloria will be in The Hague from 13-17 January, and available for consultations.
I wish her, and all of you, a happy new year and all the best for the future.
Kind regards, Fraser McIlwraith
