UN-CTSU Contributions for Rwandan Charity

On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Staff Union (The Hague branch), collected donations (€120) for a (later to be determined) African charity. The UNMICT Kigali Office subsequently undertook their own collection efforts on behalf of the staff of the Kigali Office.

An extensive search was conducted and an association was found (thanks to Fortunee Nyirandamutsa of the MICT Kigali office) in Kigali that fits the criteria.

Tubahumurize's purpose is to help women who suffered during the 1994 Genocide and who continue to be affected by it. Pacifique Uwimana, a MICT staff member based in Kigali and a Staff Union Rep, handed over the collected money in The Hague to Ms. Jeanne Mwiririza, the founder of the Tubahumurize, and her close associate Ms. Charlotte Karikwera. Fortunee Nyirandamutsa handed over the money collected in Kigali. All in all, a total of approximately €370 was donated.

UN-CTSU and the Association Tubahumurize wholeheartedly thanks everyone who has donated and who has been involved in this collection effort!
