    What We Do

    Staff Union

    New CTSU President

    January 15, 2020

    Dear Colleagues,

Compliments of the Season to you all and please accept my best wishes for health, happiness, and success in the year ahead. As I start my new role as President of the Staff Union, I wish to acknowledge how fortunate I was to have had Fraser Mcilwraith as my mentor.

As a staff representative for the last three and a half years, I have had the privilege of observing first hand his unique skills in staff-management relations, combining an ability to aptly analyse the issues at hand and approach all matters with enthusiasm, compassion, and fairness.

Fraser’s legendary wry humour, coupled with his extensive institutional knowledge, often helped to diffuse a tense standoff, and, as I assume this new leadership role, I know I have large shoes to fill. I am certain that you will all join me in extending our sincere appreciation to Fraser for his sterling work and sending him our best wishes for the next chapter in his life.

I also wish to inform staff that I am currently on mission at The Hague branch and wish to thank all those I have met thus far for the extremely warm welcome.

In this regard, I will be available for individual consultations on Thursday 16 January and Friday, 17 January 2020 from 11: 00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Staff Union Office (Room - 081), which is located in the lobby opposite the reception desk. If you are interested in a consultation, kindly please contact me at otienog@un.org or on extension 8721 to arrange an appointment.

I further wish to encourage all staff at The Hague branch, especially those I have not met before, to come and introduce themselves.

    Kind regards,
